It ought to be obvious that the Republican party, being in such dire straits, is going to exaggerate any win they can find in order to prop up their damaged image, and to give themselves a desperate sense of hope for 2010. Any party would do that.

Every day I think conservatives have finally reached some plateau of ridiculousness in making a mockery of themselves and their country, and then something like this happens, reminding me that GOP stupidity is apparently boundless.

It would seem that Republicans in Georgia are challenging the Republicans in Connecticut to a contest to see who can pull off the larger fraud on American voters without landing in jail as a result.

In what seems like it should be a national news story – but never is because of who the offenders are – a group of state Republicans in Connecticut were caught by Twitter impersonating dozens of their fellow Democratic counterparts sending out GOP-friendly messages under the …

I have no significant sympathy for Meghan McCain or anybody like her, and I wasn't snowed over by her a few months back when she criticized the Republican party and for a short time became Public Enemy #1.

Marc Ambinder of The Atlantic wrote a post a few hours ago about a letter written to President Obama, signed by seven former intelligence officials – virtually all of them neo-conservatives and many from the Bush administration – complaining about DoJ investigations into tort …

I first picked up on this from NYU journalism professor Jay Rosen on Twitter. As has been the case with virtually every teabagger protest since the astroturf gatherings were founded, this march on D.C.

Fox's greed and distaste for the American public has finally caught up with it; the network fell to second place last night airing original – and typically well viewed – reality programming, with NBC taking home the ratings crown by airing a rare Presidential speech addressin …

The last time I called Fox unpatriotic -- even though it was an ironic gesture to make a point about how absurd it is to say something like this when coming from the right -- my story was censored by conservatives that cannot and will not tolerate political dissent in any form.

I guess this started around the beginning of the Iraq war. A little before, or a little after, it doesn't really matter. A news anchor from one of the 24/7 cable networks had just finished introducing his guest as a former chief weapons inspector for the United Nations.

My subconscious has been slowly digesting developments in the health care reform non-debate and contemplating a way to crystallize it, and now that I think I've got my head wrapped around this, allow me to summarize thusly: dumb people don't deserve health care reform.

Most American should be able to clearly see the value of a two party system just as news organizations should have multiple outlets. The strong will win for awhile. If they become big-headed they'll end up being cocky and lose support. That's happening with the ruling party. Having many sources of news and political views one can migrate to the story that makes sense. President Bush had blundered with decisions within his party, but he acted presidential for the most part. On the other hand President Obama can't make decisions. He is a follower. This is a glaring weakness seen by other governments. This is scary. Our system was built on two party rules. Clearly in control, Obama's party is pulling his strings and they have three Democrats crafting a health care bill that will affect our way of life. Cable news and newspapers are starting to expose the dangers of one party rule. Realize that government shouldn't run our life. We need competition in all aspects of life, whether it's insurance, health care, or politics. Don't let on party make the rules. Dictators arrive this way.

Mr. Tenny - can someone please do a reality check? This nation is in an economic crisis! Why are we spending $15 million and more on inaugaration, and now Bush is going to authorize more to be spent???? Why do we have to have lavish parties, fancy dresses, gowns, and meals while people are losing their homes and jobs? I am disappointed in President Elect Obama, I truly thought he would show us a different way, that he would truly bring about the "change" he campaigned with. . .

Paul William Tenny,
My, my, such big words you use - xenophobe even. T.J. said "I hate everybody from that part of the world." He did not say he had a fear of them. Remember Kind Sir, hatred and raceism - in any direction - should not be a family value. Those who hate and degrade others because of the color of their skin, religion, place of origin and so on are truly self loathing. The only way they can seem to make themselves feel better is to demean others. They need your prayers far more than your angry sarcasm. Don't lower yourself to their standards.

I'm afraid that by you seeding articles so fast, you are not giving yourself enough time to make sure those who comment on them abide by the COH. You should consider slowing down to create more healthy discussion among Newsviners.

I encourage everyone to join me in mailing an old shoe to President Bush, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, Washington DC 20500. We all have them in the back of our closet. This is a great symbol of our disgust with him and an expression of solidarity with the Iraqi people. Join the cause and show the world what we think!

Hello Paul,
I want to make sure you register the implications of my note about depolarising the Republicans. It would create two weaker parties, and would reunite all the nuts into the same nut bag.

This is new to me ,but I would like to say something, for all the believers out there who understands scripture, who do you think gave ALL of us the freedom of CHOICE ? That answer would be OUR CREATOR,Choices people make are up to them ,we may not agree ,but it is NOT our place to decide,we will ALL stand before GOD ,alone on judgement day and give an account for the CHOICES we have made,Obama is pro choice ,not his rule it is GOD who gave us that choice,so pray for knowledge an understanding ,an all the lost ones who are making wrong choices on their own' stop judging an start praying.

Mr. Tenny
I just want to let you know that I appreciate the effort you put into keeping newsvine users on your threads in line with the topic and the COH. I am fairly new to newsvine yet have seen some very rude posts and comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic on other threads. It is refreshing to comment and read comments on your threads.
Thank you
