This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

You are so correct and I add my voice to those who are asking where is the change that was promised in Washington DC? Looks like the same old set of dirt bags to me and the same old tired go nowhere policies. The same old we have our hands in your pockets bunch of crooks? Nothing ever changes for the better in Washington DC and now Hilary gets to help make things worse? She did nothing to help straighten out her old pervert of a husband, so what makes anybody think she will do anything good as the secretay of state?

I have deleted your two comments above here for being off-topic. This seed is for discussing Obama's nomination of Hillary Clinton for Secretary of State -- not for Ayers or Obama's aunt.

    paul,

aren't you the tough guy. who died and made you the killer of the 1st amendment.

What you meant to say is that you, like other liberals believe there is only one point of view and if it does not agree with yours, then you censor.

      1. The 1st amendment only prevents the government from censoring you, if I so choose, I can censor you until your dying breath if I felt like it.

      2. I'm not censoring anyone or anything. This seed is for discussing Clinton's nomination as Sec. of State, all other topics would distract from that conversation so I'm keeping a clean house here by keeping things from running off the rails. Not only would I do this of my own free will because I believe it's beneficial to everyone involved, I am required by Newsvine to do it, anyway.

I always enjoy reading these inputs.  I can pick the Rush, Hannity, OReilly and Beck clones from the comments they make.  I'll be glad to get back to the Clinton years..budget deficit being reduced, good economy, a sense of hope for the American people.  It is refreshing to see someone intelligent move into the White House.  Excellent choices so far, we do not need one of us we need someone who is a step above in the grey matter.  We've had 8 years of the good ol boy and look what we've got.  The most laughable thing I've heard for the right talking heads is that they are not laying the economic disaster at the feet of Obama.  How moronic.   For all the folks on guns.. the second amendment is in the constituent.  And please provide a reference of where Obama has spoken specifically against.  Any reference to Rush, Hannity, OReilly, or Beck will not count.  They spout more hogwash than any pig farm around.

As an independent voter I take exception to the way you people on the left group everybody who doesn't agree with you as a right winger. When the truth is Americans of all political persuasions are starting to ask where is the change in Washington DC that was promised to the voters. I'm staring to believe that all that was said about change before the election was a lie and it is nothing more than the continuation of  the same old tired Democrats and the same old tired Democratic policies. Clinton benefited by the policies Bush senior but into place before he left office, so if you think Clinton's policies were what helped bring the country back on it's feet your wrong. Because the President is not the only member of the government who does anything to effect what goes on in the country? The congress has more of an effect on what happens in the country, since they are the ones who bring up new laws and bills to fund pork projects and funding for programs already in place. The President only votes yes or no, it's call a balance of power which does not exist with a Democratic President and Democratic congress. But in this congress which contains to very powerful, self centered and radical leaders, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, I would be willing to bet Obama will not get a free ride on all the things he wants to do. They have their own agendas and Obama has his.

          steve,

let me aleve your one point the RIGHTs did not make.

is it a coincidence or did i have a bad dream. ever since nobama took the lead in the polls and looked like the likely hack to win, our economy has been flushed down the toilet. maybe investors don't like socialism and redistribution of wealth either.

now about the hillbilly clinton. he WAS a fine man. had sex with someone's little girl in the oval office, then lied under oath and what was it about ol' vincent the travel guy, you know the one who "committed suicide" then drug his own body out of sight. or let's go back even further to his hillbilly governor days and the trail of dead bodies left by his detractors. fast forward to his selling our military super computers to China?  or how about his weakening of our military to the point of 3rd world countries now emboldened enough to attack us on American soil. Or Miss K Willy, i guess she just thought she was sexually assaulted. and why did he do these things and I will quote "because I thought I could. yep that is a fine individual and someone true blooded Americans can be proud of.

Wow someone could write a book about this crap.

Anyone heard of the Bilderberg Group?  Their goal for world domination?  Their annual meetings around the world?

Lee Rogers writes in Rogue Government/Infowars article that fresh off of the 2008 Bilderberg Meeting, it looks as if New York Federal Reserve president Timothy Geithner is set to push a new agenda in the world of central banking that was likely decided upon at Bilderberg.

Geithner wrote an article in the Financial Times calling for unified regulation of global banking.

In addition, Geithner called for the Federal Reserve to have an instrumental role in this new framework. Geithner cites all of the problems that were actually created by the central bankers in the first place as the rationale for having greater centralized power.

It is interesting Geithner decides to write this piece right after the Bilderberg Meeting where some of the most powerful figures in the world of central banking attended. Not only did Geithner attend, but the attendee list included Ben Bernanke the Federal Reserve Chairman, Henry Paulson the U.S. Treasury Secretary, Jean-Claude Trichet the president of the European Central Bank, Robert Zoellick the president of the World Bank and other high profile bankers.

It is no secret that the true objective of the Bilderberg Meeting is to steer the world into accepting a global government. By establishing a new global regulatory banking framework, this will inch the planet ever closer to a one world currency operating in a cashless society where microchips, (or a charagma) are used to facilitate transactions.

What about the hate from the left, abortion is all about the hate for life. Where is the Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness, as promised by the declaration of independence for the unborn. The left and their liberal judges are only more than happy to trample all over it, so when you talk of hate make sure you include the left. They are no purer than the right in the pursuit of their agenda either.

Hilliary as Secretary of State is an excellent choice; the Clintons are very intelligent people. During the Clinton presidency our country was prosperous and respected all around the world. When he left office we had a surplus in our budget and we were not in a war. Just look what Bush has done to us in the last eight years. Let's give President-elect Obama a chance. He is putting together a very impressive team to lead our country out of the sewer, but it will not happen overnight.

I agree with David, this is not a country led by a Dictator like in Venezuela. It has three branches which are suppose to monitor each other so that one branch doesn't gain to much power. the congress controls all funding issues under our constitution and they make the laws and create most if not all the news bills. Both houses vote on the new laws and new bills before they go to the President for his signature. The congress also has the power which they exercise to their maximum, to add as much pork as they can to all spending bills not the President, so if you want to blame anyone for out of control spending. Blame the congress first and the President second for putting his signature on the bills and laws the congress sends him. Also if the President refuses to sign the bills the congress wants passed they can over ride the Presidents veto with a majority vote of the congress, so who has the majority of the power here (Congress). The reason Clinton did so well during his administration was because the Republican congress held Bill's feet to the fire and prevented him from expanding Government and helped control the pork spending in the congress, thus making Bill look good. But of course we all know Bill didn't have much time for the people or the running of the country since he was to busy get sexual favors from interns.

As for Foster, I don't think the jury is really in on that until then can explain some discrepancies in the evidence. That will probably not happen soon.....so don't hold your breath I can't agree with you on Foster just yet.

As Sec. of State, Hillary Clinton would be fourth in line to the Presidency behind Joe Biden (VP), Nancy Pelosi (Speaker of the House) & Robert Byrd (Pres. Pro Tempore).

With the history of what happens to friends of the Clintons & Hillary's ambitions; if I were Obama, Biden, Pelosi & Byrd, I'd have someone watching my back at all times.

During the election campaigns, Obama's main platform was, "change, change, change". I was won over to his side by this mantra. When the economic bailout vote came, Obama voted FOR it, just as John McCain voted for it too. Obama lost my vote. Now that Obama has won, he doesn't say "change" very much anymore. In fact, he is choosing a relic from the Clinton administration to be the secretary of state. I am now very glad that i didn't vote for Obama. Politicians will never change.

It doesn't make any diffrence what Obama's picks are, the man is very flawed, and will surround himself with like men. in the depiccting of mankind, it is said of him, that in the raising of a culture, he will hate evil, as the culture ages, he will become complacent about evil, then it will be sympathitic to evil and in the end of that culture they will embrace the very evil that in the begining that they hated.  When Mr. Obama decided to run for president, He, and I quote him, that if the GOP would use only federal money and not raise private funds, that he would do the same.  Well what happened? Senator McCain accepted that, and stuck to the bargin, but Mr. Obama refussed to keep his word, and out spent John McCain by at least three times. If a man's word is no good, what good is the man? Do you want a liar, making statements that no one will believe, concerning nuclar desicions? what if another nuclar power, trying to make a treaty does not trust him?  What if all they trust is first strike capablity? What happens then?  What if our enemies start giving Cuba, and that Devil Chevz, a nuclar arsenal?  This guy is no JFK.  He cannot even handle a mop up, after our troops under George W. Bush, won the war!

James B.  You live in a fantasy world.  And for depicting mankind you need to look no further that you sore losers.  You have tried over and over to scare the living daylights out of everyone during the campaign with your rhetoric and it didn't work then and will not work now.  We are not afraid, of Cuba, Chavez and a nuclear arsenal.  We are afraid of all you gun-toting right wingers that are so intent in trying to convert us all to your beliefs, regardless of the cost.  And for John McCain, he is a good man, but he reached the Peter Principle.  He has risen to the level of his competence, and that is a Senator from Az.  A POW and good man and military man, does not necessarily qualify someone to be President and the majority of us, voted that way.

The Big three Auto makers are big business and provide a lot of jobs to a lot of people. People like the Clinton's and Obama have gotten a lot of money from the unions and now the Big three are on the verge of collapse. Sure you can blame some of this on the CEO's of the big three , but not all of it. Government over regulation and the unions also played a big part in the down fall of the big three. The union bosses who support the Democrats in everything and not what might help their union members. These fat cats in the union are just as bad as the CEO's, they live real good in mansions paid for by union funds and use union funds to support political parties, with or without the support of their members. They like everybody else were taken in by Obama 's promise of change. But what they like the rest of the country is going to get are the same old tired Democratic crooks with the same old tired policies. They beat up on the productive people and and force companies to pay benefits they can not afford to. The Democrats have failed to realize that we live in a world where every body is competing for the same dollars, euros, won, pesos, yen etc:, and to compete for this money we need to be competitive. The wages we pay here are not what most developing countries pay their people. By destroying companies here or forcing them to move overseas to stay competitive we are destroying ourselves and ruining the country. The congress (Democratic) and their pork barrel spending is helping to create some of our problems as well as crooks like Dodd and Barney Frank', Obama who benefited by the ruining of Freddie Mac and Fannie May. These same people who have cause our problems are now being given positions of power in Obama's administration and for those who blame Bush for everything. Part of the Blame lies with the congress and those crooks got voted back in this past election and Bush will be gone come January 20Th 2009.

Obama is doing what all puppets do. Lining the pockets of the people pulling his strings.

ITS PAYBACK TIME. Hillary promised to support him if he would pay off her campaign debts and now he's paying her off with a plum high profile cabinet position. Bummer.

Too bad Obama isn't a student of history. Our luck with female Sec of States hasn't been great. Albright made pacts with North Korea which they simply ignored. Rice is arguably one of the most intelligent sec of State in the last 25 years but putting a woman in a positions of negotiating with cultures which see women as property just isn't productive. Islamic cultures will not take negotiations led by a woman seriously, and won't be bound them.

IF Obama has any sense he will put America first and not the political machine that handed him the presidency. That will increase his chances of success that might let him win a second term. If he just tows the Democratic party line we are all doomed.

B Clinton, Chris Dodd, Barney Franks etc planted the seeds of our currant economic crisis back in 98/99 by setting the stage for the whole sub-prime mess. Those seeds bore fruit after growing for the last 10 years. Bushes biggest failure will be remembered as his admin failing to fix  Sub-prime and predatory lending practices enacted by the Dems. Had the Repubs had the courage to stand up to the Dems who threatened to label them as racist or heartless when the Repubs had the majority we wouldn't be in this mess now. WE need leaders. Not not the sniveling bunch of poiticians we have now.

Congress has a single digit approval rating. Any Cabinet pick from this pool is a pick from a cess pool.

If she is appointed, I feel she is a good choice.  First because she knows the job, and the details that are involved with it.  And as far as the hate for the Clintons, what did they do?  He had affairs, but so did many other Presidents and yet he is the one that seems to draw out the venom in you moralites.  New polls recently revealed that one in five men have extra-marital affairs.  I am not condoning that, but to bring to your attention, he is not alone.  I am sure that he would much rather that all this had not happened and he could go back, but alas that is the way it is.  You do something, and then it is exposed and your life is never the same.  His affairs, were between him and Hilary, not us.  And as far as shape the country was left in, LOOK IT UP, he left us in good shape and then George W. came in and we are now in 2 wars, our young men are dying in both places, unemployment is rampant, housing market has tanked, and everything else that goes with our economic situation and you all are worried about Hilary being appointed Secy of State?  Could she be worse than Condolezza Rice who is Bush's puppet?   And for all of you that posted, about national healthcare and worried about the govt., running it.  They already have vast experiece in running healthcare with Medicare and Medicaid.  And before you get your panties in a wad, yes I know Medicare and Medicaid have problems, but tell the older people that use it that it is not going to be there.  Get over being against everything Obama does.  He is our President -elect and will be inaugurated Jan 20, and a majority of Americans want it that way.

If you can find any possible link for the tanking of the housing market directly affiliated with George Bush tell please. I work on the supply end of it and I know why our 128 year old business is in trouble and it has nothing to do with Bush. nothing at all It has to do with unscrupulous bank loaning money to people who should not even gotten a smell at owning a house. It has to do with out of control developer building spec homes with out any perspective buyers and no way to pay for them. It also has to do with suppliers not willing to see the real writing on the wall when their developers aren't paying their bills off completely at the times they were contracted to do so. It wasn't GW it was once again the greedy American wanting a bigger and bigger piece of the pie and not willing to give up when the market had no more buyers. Ultimately this had to happen with land prices out of had housing prices out of hand and labor cost to build out of hand and etc. A whole generation of upcoming home buyer were being priced out of buying.I once had my house assessed at 180,000 to 190,000 dollars in a town of less then 10000 in southern Minn. That's ridiculous I should have cashed in but now I'm glad I didn't I'll get to keep my house and live my life. The only thing that bugs me is the people who overbuilt kept their ARMs continued to buy and now own a cabin an RV a snowmobile an ATV and $ cars and rent a 20 by 20 storage shed and they can't make ends meet and those people are going to get bailed out. THAT NOT EVEN CLOSE TO RIGHT NOT AT ALL My house is less then 2000 sq. ft.

It's beyond the pale that Obama can select Janet Napolitano for Homeland Security cheif and no one mentions her controversy from 1996. While U.S. Attorney in Arizona that year, she was asked by the government/postal inspectors to help issue search warrants after the FBI took over a child porn operation in California. The idea was that the FBI and postal inspectors would send out the requested illegal materials and then deliver them to the pedophiles who ordered them. It turned out that all the material was ordered by gay men...pictures of little boys. (The story was featured on 20/20 at the time). Because of her sexual orientation, Napolitano was the only U.S. Attorney who would not cooperate with the investigation. One of the suspects who was not arrested went on to molest 200 boys.

You sound like a bizarre, homophobic person screaming "the sky is falling" with your misguided incorrect stereotypical slander.  Just because some one is gay does not mean they are pedophiles nor does it remove their ability to use their brains.

gay is strictly a moral issue with me. I treat gay people as they are human beings. I have a friend of over 40 years who I found out was gay about 10 years ago he isn't any less my friend and I didn't change any rules as far as our friendship goes. The only thing the change for me is I see him as a sinner and a unrepentant one at that. That's it not much different then me. I am a sinner only difference is I seek redemption for my misgivings and he doesn't. His judgement comes at the end. I believe I'll miss him when we are not here anymore. I have always tried to understand why any government gets involved in issues of morality they must feel impowered by trying to tell churches what is right or wrong. I know one thing catholic churches have gay people who attend them and they do all the things at church everyone else does the only difference is they have to live with their guilt and know that believing in Him will eventually save their soul. They just probably won't get the express train to heaven but more like a slow moving freight train.
