President Bush's former political director says the national security team named by President-elect Barack Obama "represents, to a substantial degree, continuity" especially in hot spots like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

So now are all the conservative commenters going to parrot Rove like they've been doing for seven years, or are they going to keep parroting old McCain campaign slogans and bumper stickers because they don't know any better?

Obama ran on a platform of "Change" change tactics in the war, change of policies both foreign and domestic, change the people who are in power, change everything. Now he is showing "Continuity".

AKMIL... you need to understand that Karl Rove is giving his "opinion" -- for what it's worth -- and that opinion doesn't reflect the policies of President-Elect Obama.

Rove sees his role as a disruptor.  If Rove says the sky is blue, you can almost guarantee that the atmosphere has taken on a much different hue.

Probably both.  I do not see any evidence of independent thinking in the Republican party.   They have finally winnowed out all of the intelligence in that party and are left with very mediocre remains.

I'm not getting people being upset.  I am pleased by Obama's choices - for the most part, they seem thoughtful.  I don't care if someone was in the Clinton White House or not ..... once out of Clinton administration, they forged careers and are well-respected in their fields.  I don't want rookies - sorry.  I want people who can hit the ground running. As for Karl Rove ..... he is an absolute pig of a man and I'm not referring to his weight.  He slings mud and revels in it.  He's trying to get himself front and center and take advantage of all the press exposure he can get so that when 2012 rolls around, those of us with short memories will be used to listening to him and give him some credibility.  Good thing my memory is long ....

Rove is a fat pig, and should be in prison.

Just looking at him makes me sick to my stomach.  He represents everything that is wong and disgusting about American politics.  We should send him onto forced exile.

Karl Rove aka "Bush's Brain."  Now doesn't that speak volumes?

The good thing about Rove is that,by rejecting McCain, who used his vicious partisan  tactics,we repudiated Rove and rendered him irrelevant.Consigned him to the dustbin of history. With luck he'll disappear, never to be heard from again.

We'll see him again in '12 when he's running Palin's campaign.  She sees nothing wrong in his tactics.  In fact, she seems to wallow in them.  What's teh difference between GW Bush and Sarah Palin?  lipstick.

Your rhetoric is similar to many other haters. You complain about falsely promised change when the word 'continuity' is mentioned. However, are you one of the many who cry 'socialism' or 'radicalism' when an ideological change is announced?

In case you forgot, the people appointed work for the President. If the ideology he governs with changes, then the nature of the work completed by his cabinet will be different than when they served under a different President.

Nothing he does will please you. Admit it and move on.

Lastly, in case you haven't noticed, continuity and cohesion in Washington would indeed be CHANGE.

              jarrod...

Actually, just replacing the current administration and appointees would be considered as CHANGE...and much for the better.

Personally, I couldn't care less what Rove says anymore...he's a two bit hack in search of another meal ticket but he can't hide in the shadows like he did when working for Bush.  Why are they giving him any air time?
