This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

If he was found "not guilty" in the murder case, I have no problem with that. He had the best attornies money can by. Good for him.

The key word you used was  "steal" his own stuff. That makes him a thief, plus he did it with a handgun, which makes it armed robbery. If these clowns had his stuff and they had it illegally, why didnt J.O. go to the cops and have them get it back for him? Why did he think he could take the law into his own hands?

See, the country has LAWS and people are supposed to obey them (wheather they like or agree to them or not). And if you break the law, you will get arrested. Its as simple as that.

Plus, I could care less what color someone is. J.O. is a very high profile figure in our society and with that status comes more "under the micoscope" by the public. As I said before, if he would stayed in Florida and kept his nose clean, we wouldnt be discussing this right now.

Now J.O. is going to see why they call prison "The Pokie".

Everyone needs to understand that according to law, the original not guilty verdict must stand to avoid double jeopardy, or allowing the government to keep trying someone until they get the verdict they want. Previous trials are also not admissible in most cases. So, whether he "got away with murder" or not in the first instance has nothing to do with the second instance.

F-I-N-A-L-L-Y!!!  To bad this is @ 15 yrs. too late, but better late than never, right?!  I hope he gets the maximum sentence and spends the rest of his life trying to protect his a$$ and mouth from getting gang-banged.

As far as all you idiots out there who still swear up and down he was innocent the whole time and that it was a conspiracy by "the man", shut the f*ck up and look at the facts.  What has he done since to prove that he's innocent???  Has he spent any time or money at all "looking for the killer"???  NO.  Has he sold off any of his memorabilia to try and help pay off the debt he owes to the Goldmans.  NO.  Has he established any charities in Nicole's name or done anything to try and help the Goldman's?  NO.

What has he done?  Well, for starters, he's played a LOT of golf.  He's pissed and whined about how he's been treated unfairly - yet he constantly does $hit that brings attention to himself.  And to top it all off, he wrote a book stating how he "would've" done it.  This is also known as a C-O-N-F-E-S-S-I-O-N!!!  The fact that he even had the nerve to be so arrogant and write it - especially to profit from it - proves that he he knows he got away with one of the biggest crimes of the century.  He's guilty, he got away with it and he and God almighty know it.

      I say congratulations, O.J.!!!  Your finally gonna be someone's b*tch!!! :)

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have to do anything after being acquitted to "prove his innocence." He was acquitted...(of that).

NeverWorried - hey dumba$$ - he was acquitted of murder in a criminal trial and found guilty of wrongful death in a civil trial.  When he was aquitted, he publicly stated that he would help search for the killer.  He was found guilty in a civil court of law and ordered to pay restitution to the Goldmans.  You must've forgotten that little fact or you're too stupid to pay attention to all the details.  Maybe you were pi$$ing in diapers when the whole thing went down.  Maybe you're one of those people who think "The Man" is still trying to keep a brotha down and keep oppressing the minorities.  Either way, I really don't give a $hit.

As far as you trying to tell me to learn the meaning of life - learn how to use proper grammer along with the spellcheck function and maybe we can talk.  It's obvious to me that you couldn't teach me anything other than how to dumb myself down.

For the record, I find it rather enlightening that his former attorney and friend, Robert Kardashian, pretty much completely distanced himself from O.J. after the trial was over.  Maybe O.J. confessed to him that he did it, knowing full well that Robert could never say anything due to lawyer client priveledge and had to defend him regardless.  To bad Robert is deceased and had to take that confession to the grave.

well Paul, PO is assuming that because Obama is black that he cares about OJ. White people have so much to learn about black people. tsk..tsk

      A few points:

Black people didn't celebrate OJ, we knew that his acquittal would make white america angry and maybe, just maybe you would understand the tensions black america suffers. And it did.. You were SSoo upset. Still are from reading all these post.

Race card issue: We all have things in our past that we regret. I'm sure white american would like to white out 400 years of its history. Not gonna happen. When you are in charge you accept responsibility for the course of your company. Don't blame others when your hand was the one dealing the cards.

I have yet to meet a perfect person, without sin or fault. So stop crying about others and work on yourself.

Was it because a black man was found not guilty? Did the ones who cheered really feel he was innocent or were they blinded by race?

It's a sign of the true ignorance of Americans. Some people just absolutely refuse to get over OJ. If you mention the absurd trial of the murderers of Emmett Till, a young African-American child who was murdered a hell of a lot more brutally than Nicole Simpson, to most whites, they just see it as unfortunate that the murderers got off.

But, when a blond white woman is killed, the entire world has to be outraged. How pathetic...

Murder is murder, death is death, how in the world the color of the victim comes into play, I really don't get. Nor did I realized the 'victim whom has been murder and tortured the most' has anything at all to do with justice. The taking of a life is wrong, and should be dealt with as a crime. With the statements about race, what's next, that God has devided heaven according to the color of skin. The reason that OJ is still in the news and minds of people, is because he puts himself there, over and over again, maybe if he quit committing crimes, we would all forget him.

Derek: You are the most ignorant person i can fathom. I don't care what color a murderer is. If someone brutally, or non-brutally murders someone, they should be put to death. In the case you mentioned above, did you see white people running around celebrating. Who ever killed that child should hang, regardless of race. You need to get off of the race card, it's getting old. Maybe blacks think it's great that O.J. slaughtered two white people and stuck it to the man by getting off. You know in your heart he killed those two people and he should have been executed already for doing so. A murderer has no color and justice should always be served fairly. O.J. was a rich white wannabe who hated being black. He surrounded himself with all whites, until after his trial.

Or, maybe the trial was so publicized because Simpons was, I don't know, a celebrity?  Seeing as how during the time period the murder trial took place there were multiple cases of both whites killing blacks and blacks killing whites, and many of them in the same county as the OJ trial, with little media attention at all, I'd say we have rather substantial proof that race was not the initial factor, it being transformed into a race issue only after the trial had begun and certain groups decided to take advantage of his skin color to make a point.

Murder is murder, murder by a celebrity is a media frenzy.  That was what brought the media, not his skin color in an area where the majority of the police are black, the majority of the investigators are black, and a large portion of the community is black.  Do you really think that it makes the slightest bit of sense that the media attention was because he was black, even though there were multiple murders that same years committed by black men against white women?  His was the only one even given a second glance.  It's called being a celebrity, not only a football player but a well known actor popular in the area.  When the race issue only comes up later and actually ignores the skin color of the arresting officers and investigators, we don't have an actual valid race issue at all.  The fact that the LA black community forced it to become a race issue is what is pathetic, when the only thing people saw at the beginning was a celebrity, who was already famous for alcoholism and beating up women.  You've taken celebrity attention and magically turned it into something about race, that is what is pathetic and that is what was so pathetic about the trial.

This just so happens to be an open forum about this case, largely due to the fact that O.J. is a "celebrity", more notorious in my mind, and that it was a highly publicized trial because of it. This forum, to me, cries out for all victims who have not received their justice, but at least one of those murderers is paying, in some part, at last!!

This became a national, international sensation not because of a white woman being brutally murdered. It happened because of whom did the killing of this white woman. An internationally known sport celebrity known the world over. That is the biggest reason this crime had over-saturated the media the way it did. Everything else that was so terribly wrong with this horrific situation stemmed from this and this only.

The people of the US saw first hand the 'joke', that people referee to as 'our justice system' in action in 1994 when this sociopath, whom had killed two human beings, walked free from a alleged court room that was in reality, a circus, Live courtroom feed allowed all of the people a free pass to watch from the comfort of their homes, 'The Trial of the Century', that should have fittingly been billed as 'The Greatest Show on Earth' !

With the help of the old mighty dollar (lots of them), dozens of Attorneys, and a hidden race card, we watched this killer run the football field of excuses, and lies, hidden facts with the same determination that he had used years ago to bring his football team to victory. "touch down"!

But for the group of people out there that believe that karma in life, is a true occurrence, ' what comes around really does go around', we are all secretly pleased, justice has finally come for him, and so what if its a little bit late, it is finally going to be served to an individual whom should have never been allowed to see the light of day again. Sadly I doubt that the sentence will be what he really deserves, but one can hope, and that is more then the family of the victims ever received.

We are speaking of events in Nevada; not things that happen in Los Angles in 1994. Yes, you reap what you sow!  Those who sow the wind, reap the whirl wind. When your turn comes, may justice be served and the punishment fit the crime.

It is supposed to be a nation under laws, of laws.  Yet, I don't understand how a man can go through the justice system, be acquitted, and still have a civil judgment upon him based on evidence that was insufficient to convict him.  Seems like double jeopardy.  Now, for a crime of stupidity at best, when official government torturers are getting away with torture, when a President can send thousands to their death and never be prosecuted or impeached, this man can be sent to jail for the rest of his life.  This seems a lot like a lynching.  Now, I make no judgment on whether he is really innocent of murder, but the law IS the law.  Yet, an angry man wanting a pound of flesh and jurors not wanting to face the public if they went by the evidence, possibly, a lynching has been accomplished.  Is Simpson a fool?  Is he the benificiary of a good legal team in the murder trial?  So are others.  No, this is just a lynching and a real mob pleaser at that.

Skvam: because criminal and civil are obviously two separate legal issues. If the State had at least one competent prosecutor on this case, we wouldn't be talking about it. O.J. would have already been in jail for life. Vincent Bugliosi, who convicted Manson, said a good prosecutor could have gotten a conviction with 10% of the evidence they had at their disposal. Just becasuse a completely ignorant jury and horrible prosecutors blew it doens't make it right. Convicted felons appeal a million times; why can't the state appeal the jury's ruling and re-trial a case? That needs to be changed. And the State should be able to hire competent attorneys to convict and not rely on incompetent prosecutors. I think many more cases would at least have a better chance of having a fair outcome.

The jury in the criminal court acquitted O.J. of murder but the civil court's jury found him liable to conpensate the Goldman's family for the loss of their son. The reason why it's not "double jeopardy" is the civil courts ruling does not involve prison time only monetary compensation. The jurors in the civil case apparently felt O.J. was guilty based upon the evidence in contrast to the criminal court's jury. Just because a criminal case is lost it doesn't mean a civil lawsuit cannot be pursued

Simpson was fortunate the same civil case jury was not his jury in the murder criminal trial or he would have been incarcerated for life. Regardless, he still tied his own noose and hung himself in committing these crimes.

I appreciate your efforts, but to me it seems somehow unfair to force a judgement upon a man who has just been acquitted.  If it could not be proved he did it, why is that sufficient to render him responsible?  It just doesn't pass the smell test for fairness.  Just my opinion.  Now, he may have actually murdered those two people; I make no judgment on that...I can't since I am not superior to the jury.

In this case, I'm sorry, but it just seems to be a "time for getting it right" verdict.  Full murderers do not get convicted for as long a prison term as Simpson might be facing.  If impartiality is not part of the law, then what is the benefit of the law, which is represented by a blindfolded Justice?  A noose is a little harsh, as is a lifetime sentence, for his silly escapade.  I would be interested in knowing what like criminals  received.

Each state sets their own guidelines and O.J., like the egotistical idiot that he is, picked the WRONG state to do what he did. In many other states, he would get very little time. Thank goodness he did in the the great state of NV.

Simple, BECAUSE we are a nation under laws, of laws, as you said.  A federal trial is wholly separate from a civil trial.  Quite often, people are found innocent due to specific circumstances outside of the evidence.  Courtroom incidences can throw out evidence that can be reexamined in a civil case, or appealed federal case depending on the situation.  Jury knowledge of outside factors, such as threats of riots in the streets, has on more than one occasion led a guilty conviction to transform to innocent (the jury when interviewed after the trial, interviews you can still download online, claimed to overwhelmingly support the belief that he was guilty, but they were forced to consider those outside factors).  The civil trial had no threats against it, it had no media circus, it had no issues with the trial that led to real evidence being thrown out.  And simply based on the evidence from what was finally a clear cut trial, he was easily found guilty.  I don't know what's there to not understand.  Dozens of cases have resulted in federal trials leading to not guilty convictions with civil trials siding the opposite, and dozens of cases have led in the opposite direction.  Quite often, it is the legal teams themselves and the way the evidence is provided that leads a jury to vote guilty or not guilty.  A good lawyer can find someone not guilty while a poor defense lawyer could lead the same person to a guilty conviction.  It was a wholly separate trial, and in the civil trial the evidence was allowed and presented in a way, that time without the level of bias pushed for by the defense, which led to a solid and easy guilty conviction.  That nation of laws is what led to the conviction, there's nothing there to not understand.

What I get out of all these comments is that since the law is different, a failure to convict in a criminal case should not mean he "gets away with it," so let's get him, or anyone else, in a second try, a cupie doll verdict, in the "civil" trial.  Still seems unfair.  It would be like being told you don't have cancer, then being told that since you might have it, let's radiate you and give you harsh chemicals that ruin you since it's still possible you have had cancer.  Cukoo.

As for those people who argue race, guess what, I'm not black.  So back to the drawing board for you who have made the error of dealing with the source and not the argument; illogical!  Even legal experts on CNN were saying it seemed a bit much, a bit overdrawn, I think that was the word used, overdrawn, and would serve as grounds for appeal.  By the way the jury was all white.  Someone ELSE played the race card, it seems.  That too, according to CNN might be a reason to appeal.

The kidnapping and armed robbery charges aren't true. OJ said he will track down the real criminals like he is tracking down the murderer of his ex-wife. I think he's going to write a sequel to his first book telling if he was the robber, how he would have done it. All is well and good in OJ world.

I do suspect that any person she would be interested in would be of high intellect and social promise.  Very few would have to worry of having a woman of sustenance grant them with her company.  So Mr. Garrett, I am sure you are safe from such company.  She did not determine his guilt nor innocence related to these charges (FYI:  Our system does not operate that way)- She merely reviewed the determination of the jury (who was selected by the joint decision of the defense and prosecution); after her review, analyzed the local laws and measured his potential to attempt to flee and the degree of the crime comparative to the allowance of the local ordinance.  Arrogance as opposed to confidence, strength of character and intelligence? I am so tired of men finding fault in confident women.  I am so grateful for the level of confidence and character of my husband.

The part of his sentence that seems fitting to me is that because of his high profile status/celebrity, he will do his whole stretch in solitary confinement so other convicts won't be able to target him. This ego maniac will have to live in solitary for a good long time. Maybe he can finally find the conscience he lost long ago.

Some of us black people reading these posts are just shaking our heads and smiling because we all know that there is only one reason some of you obsess about the verdict in the death of Nicole Brown-Simpson and one reason only and that is… because she was white.  You would not have given a damn about the trial if it was O.J.'s first (black) wife that had gotten killed.  Proof: Black people are killed every day in this country and you don't give a damn as to the outcome of the verdicts in those trials.  Just read through all of these racist comments.  It is a confirmation of what many of us blacks already know and that bigotry indeed still exists.  But let me give you a wake up call.  Regardless of how much you hate blacks; all human kind comes from Africa a.ka. The Motherland.  When scientists study the origin of man they go to Africa.  Fact: two black people can produce a white person (albino).  Two white people cannot produce a black person.  .  Learn your history before you hate your ancestors.

Gene, go take your meds.  An albino is not a white person.  And whites are killed every day in this country; so what is your point.  If O.J. killed two blacks, in the manner he slaughtered his ex-wife and friend, it would still be huge news.  What you are failing to understand is that the media had this on television 24/7.  Just as many blacks watched every day.  The difference is you are glad he got off and most intelligent blacks and whites are not; as we (smart blacks and whites) believe ANY murderer should pay the price.  They are sentencing him live right now.  You can watch on msn.com.

I don't think every person posting on here has racial bias my friend. I personally was offended that Simpson got away with murder (and prior to his trial I really liked OJ). I think what offended many people was that you could buy justice, that has absolutely nothing to do with ethnicity. If it had been any other sports star and he had behaved as Simpson had done, I would have been equally let down if he had been found innocent. It's a testament to OJ's lack of intelligence and gigantic ego (not uncommon for any celebrity) that he still could not keep himself out of trouble and prison. What a completely empty person he is. Don't you agree?

Sorry, but was this a joke or a serious comment?  It seems serious, but it makes no sense, seeing as how white people are killed every day in this country and you don't give a damn as to the outcome of the verdicts in those trials.  In fact, most people don't give a damn.  Black people were killed by whites, and whites were killed by blacks, all with little fanfare, and all even while the OJ trial was still going on.  Obviously, this is proof, unlike your comment claiming to be proof, that the trial was so heavily publicized from the start simply because...he was a celebrity.  You know, football player, growing actor well know in the area, already in the news for being an alcoholic and for beating up women.  You want proof, look at how many white women were killed by blacks this year, last year, the year before that, all the way back to while the OJ murder trial was going on.  How much publicity do you see for all of those?  That's right, none.  Which means, your proof is, sorry, but garbage.  If it was simply a black killing a white woman, why did he get so much attention while the majority of other white women killed by blacks have received none.  While you're at it, why don't you look at how many whites have been killed by blacks since that time as well.

If your statement is proof, as you claim, then you can substitute the races and make just as valid a statement.  White people are killed every day in this country and you don't give a damn as to the outcome of the verdict in those trials.  Just as valid as your statement, just as true.  So if your statement is proof that white people are all racist towards blacks, the just as valid statement is proof that black people are all racist towards whites.  Or, you could simply show a bit of common sense and see that the OJ trial started because he was a popular and well known celebrity who brought the publicity onto himself, him being black not even mentioned by the media until after the trial began and it became an accusation used in his favor.  It's common sense, whites killed by blacks get no more publicity than blacks killed by whites (who often times get greater publicity).

Another bitter dude on the posts. Your reasoning is flawed, as is the argument that all white people hate blacks. I am as Caucasian as they come, and I DO NOT hate black people. I do, however, hate murderers, rapists, child molesters, etc. regardless of race. People comment on this all day long because of the high-profile nature of the case. People die every day at the hands of other people, and many people despise it and speak out against it. You may be bitter because black people die every day at the hands of other black people, same as white kill whites, white skill blacks, etc. One thing I do notice- whenever race is brought into a conversation, half the time it is an inbred bigot, but the other half of the time it is someone like you playing the race card before it is even brought up. Let it go, man. By the way, Plaxico Burress is in deep s*** in NY- another black athlete led astray. He is being railroaded too, right?

Let me correct you on something.  I do not believe all whites are biggots.  I grew up in a very diverse community and have a diverse group of friends.  I am addressing those biggots that have gotten on this site and posted racist comments about the O.J. Simpson murder trial.

Beckwolf my comment Fact: Two black people can produce a white person (albino). Means that if two black people or any other race produces an albino child that child resembles white people.  Two black people can also produce children that have blue and green eyes as further evidence.

The definition of albino is a person whose skin, hair and eyes lack normal coloration because of genetic factors: albinos have a white skin, whitish (which became blonde) hair...

Since the human race evolved from Africa and migrated across the world thus the white race.  Also, I used it to clarify that for people who hate African-Americans are hating themselves because all mankind originated/evolved from Africa so it is silly for them to hate us.

These facts do not mean either race is superior to the other it is just the facts. Like it or notr.

You whatever the judge decides I really do not care. What bothers me is that the woman is tacky! She is on TV sucking on a quart of soda in a styrofoam cup- how inappropriate is that!

I am of the opinion that OJ Killed before. I am also of the opinion that he is paying for that a little bit here and that is unfortunate. These charges should stand on their own and the sentencing shouhd be based on the evidence and testimony of what is known and is on the record.

Tha OJ killed is not on the record whether we want it to be or not. That is why there are sentencing guidelines and to go outside of those for any reason, especially in this case, only serves to perpetuate the black v white mentalities in this country.
