Last night the House of Representatives passed part of the behemoth transportation bill it is considering over the next month on a 237-187 vote. This section consisted solely of earmarks to Big Oil including drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, opening Florida coasts to offshore drilling, a plan to develop oil shale (which isn’t even commercially viable), and building the Keystone XL pipeline. A Congressional Budget Office analysis shows that the drilling proposals together generate only approximately $2 billion, far less than the $50 billion funding gap needed for transportation projects over the coming years.
Republican-controlled House passes section of transportation bill consisting of nothing but pork/earmarks/lobbyist wishlist to Exxon Mobile and friends

Your modern Republican Party and House of Representatives, totally corrupt, bought off and owned by Big Oil. Doing nothing to create jobs or improve the economy. Not doing anything for America, really. Just global oil companies that own the GOP.

They are prepping to blame OUR President for any increase in gasoline at the pump later this year ... that's their only hope to try to defeat him ...
which is to wish the worst for Americans ..... none of this drill baby drill bull@!$%# is going to have a meaningful impact - and by the time it does we won't need oil .....
stop the GOTP oil speculators and the price will go down .... that's what I expect OUR President to do if things get out of hand!
The GOTP is going down big time in November.

I suspect the Senate will stamp it dead on arrival. I thought Pork, Earmarks etc were illegal now in Congress. Have we back up again?

How long does the almost constant crazy talk, bizarre religiosity and outright lying, hypocrisy and cronyism have to go on before people just wake up and realize that these guys are nucking-futz?!!!
I mean, seriously, this-this isn't even politics anymore- this isn't an argument of Right-vs-Left- this is a struggle over our nation's Sanity!!!
When in the heck are we going to stop paying attention to (much less voting for) these nutjobs?!!!!!

Rand Paul and other ultra conservatives ran on a platform of cutting the earmarks and debt and shutting down the government if need be. Makes my ass wanna chew tobacco and it doesn't even have teeth. LOL. The likes of Paul, Ryan, Boehner and McConnell are more corrupt and fiscally liberal and wasteful than anyone they ever accused of it in the past.

Their thievery should be front page news. This isn't their money but ours and to give it away to big oil is certainly not in our interests. Tax cuts to the rich and pork to their sponsors.
- 20 votes
Becks, there are two things which are very sad about this entire business:
1) It's NOT on the front page, and
2) There are multiple conservatives whining their asses off on other threads about people like me who are currently receiving government assistance, and yet, not a single one is over here complaining about Big Oil subsidies.
And they can't understand why they're going to lose this November...?
- 17 votes
Silvaria,
It's self-delusion. They MUST prop themselves up, no matter what the polls and public opinion say.
The most pathetic are the ones who are not rich. They fight against their own better interests. It will never occur to them that they are supporting the worst kind of welfare assistance - the corporate kind, that what you are being given is a pittance compared to what they are GLADLY handing to corporations with smiles on their faces, and have the temerity to complain about how our tax dollars are being wasted. The American public gets that now. The 99% movement proves that.
No worries, they will lose in November, because that self-delusion is a double-edged sword. It's likely the only righties to be seen or heard from after November will be the dumber ones, who just don't know any better, and the trolls, because those never do.

silvaria,
how dare you be an american citizen and be claiming government assistance. You should be taking your entire lifetime earnings and donating it to exxon-mobil specifically because of how much they have done to make your life better, by killing off all those little fishies in our lakes, streams and oceans, polluting our air, hell you should volunteer your self for CO saturation testing at the 'institute of petroleum companies to make this country an asphalt parking lot and the destruction of all life on the planet'.
I mean, geez, all you left libbie commie pinko cheekie smackers

Can you work but choose not to?
Do you have kids so you can get a boost in your Gubment check?
Do you wring everything out of the system you can? even if you dont need it?
Are you dishonest about any other incomes you might get?
If you answered yes to any of those, you are the problem, if you answered no to all of them, there's no problem.
The stance that the left has taken on welfare seems to be lump everything together from food stamps to SS.
If you CAN get out and contribute to society, do it, help the rest of us out, if you don't want to, take the check and stfu about being downtrodden, and expect people to talk @!$%# about you.
If you CANT work, there's no issue.
That's about as simple as I can make it based on my interpretation of the issue and personal views.
Republican politicians are saying to the American people read our policies we work for the corporations!
Dam America we have drawn the line Republicans work for Big Oil Corporation, Supreme court said corporation are people and speech is more money than we can raise from the average American citizens.

Dead on arrival in the Senate.
Don't worry, it's just more damning evidence for the November elections.

Of course they are bought and paid for ny big oil. Nothing surpising here. The raping of the enviroment no surprise either. Remember all of this crap whe you go to the polls. We need to vote these people out of office. We need to say as a nation YOU ARE FIRED.

Why is this even consider a 'Transporation' bill? How much will actaully go to help fix our roads, bridge, tunnels, and other infrastructures that are so badly needed of an overhaul?
I really hope the Democrats in the Senate put a stop to this House GOP nonsense.

They GOTP is betting (and praying) that gasoline prices are going up and then they will point to this poison pill legislation and say Harry Reid killed it and that caused higher prices at the pump later this summer ...
Are enough Americans dumb enough to buy into the GOTP lies and games? many have so far .....
But I don't think any longer ...... real republicans are becoming independents and trying to distance themselves from the Grand old Teapublican Party (GOTP) ..... they are a bunch of wack-a-moles
We have a real American in the white house who represents both progressives and conservatives .... all AMERICANS not the politicians and corporations.

And this news is surprising to whom exactly?
Republicans licking the boots of their masters then bending over to receive their rewards.

the never ending saga of Slash and burn by the republicans. I love the tid bit about oil shale they have had one of these for years in Colorado near gunnison and it went belly up. I wonder how many of the fellas on the right are investing heavy in the futures market so the price will spike and they make another killing at the cost of the citizens of the country.
